Porsche 992 GT3 RS prototype spotted testing
Outrageous rear wing and RSR-style front boot design raises aerodynamic game for next 911 Rennsport
2022 will welcome the 992 GT3 RS to the eighth generation 911 model lineup, and if these spy shots are anything to go by, it’s going to be outrageous.
This pre-production mule, spotted on roads around the Nürburgring Nordschleife, features an oversized swan-neck designed rear wing, the proportions of which have seemingly been taken from Weissach’s 2020 RSR and GT3 R race cars.

There’s also a new front bootlid design which, although masked in these pictures, appears to suggest an RSR-style recess to help manage airflow at the front of what will be the next Rennsport 911. There’s also a clear design language carried over from Porsche’s production 992 GT3, evident in the front and rear PUs.
There is still a lot of camouflage hiding other key design details such as the air intakes on the rear fenders, louvres on the front fenders, as well as the level of adjustability on that bi-planed rear wing, but there’s no hiding from the fact the 992 GT3 RS will present a huge aerodynamic leap over its 991.2 GT3 RS predecessor.
Power will come from a naturally-aspirated flat six delivering somewhere between 540 and 580 horsepower, connected of course to a PDK Sport gearbox. The 992 GT3 RS is set to debut next year, where Porsche will celebrate a milestone 50 years of the 911 Rennsport.
