Porsche’s Boxster Spyder has garnered a cult following in recent times for its simple, pared-back approach to open-topped Porsche sports car motoring. The 987 Boxster Spyder started this trend, with Porsche releasing what was a new concept at the LA Auto Show of 2010.

Today it’s a rare Porsche, with around 200 present in the UK in either manual or PDK. At 1,275kg it was the lightest Porsche in the showroom at the time, but with the Spyder story evolving significantly since, how does the original stack up today? 9WERKS finds out with a 2025 test drive.
