Porsche 993s remastered
Four Porsche 993s modified with modern tech by enthusiasts… has their classic driving experience been improved?
The Porsche 993 is now 30 years old and, as the last air-cooled 911, has always enjoyed a legendary status among enthusiasts throughout its life. As such, values have always remained buoyant and stable in the Porsche marketplace. But can this classic Porsche be improved?
Four owners have shown the answer is, emphatically, yes, having modified their Porsche 993s according to their own taste and lifestyle. Between them, we’ve got a daily driven Carrera 4, a 993 RS replica, a Touring-inspired Carrera and an ‘as new’ C2, so which one of these modified 993s is best? I drive all four cars to bring you my definitive verdict on these Porsche 993s which have been reborn exactly 30 years after they first rolled out of the factory in stock form.
A HUGE thank you to Chet, George, Toby and Andy for their trust and kindness in letting me drive their 993s. You can follow them on Instagram: @ch3tman @m2cs_g60rge @993andy and @tob_today.
