9WERKS Awards: winners revealed

The 2022 9WERKS Awards with Design911 is hailed a spectacular success – here are your winners…

The evening of Thursday 7th April 2022 will be remembered as a milestone moment for the specialist Porsche industry thanks to the stunning success of the inaugural 9WERKS Awards.

Initiated to reward excellence among businesses and individuals, the occasion brought together 75 guests who attended our lavish black tie evening held in the unique setting of Shorade Accident Repair, Cannock. Our guests were joined by legendary 993, Carrera GT and GT1 designer, Tony Hatter, who flew in from his home in Stuttgart as Guest of Honour.

After a champagne reception in the company of a stunning Carrera GT, arguably Hatter’s most notable road-based design, guests were invited to their tables in the main awards room for a spectacular prize-giving ceremony as nine winners took home gongs in recognition of their exceptional contributions in the enthusiast sphere.

Prior to the prize-giving ceremony, which was streamed live on the 9WERKS Instagram account (if you missed the broadcast, you can watch it here), Mr Hatter took to the stage, delighting attendees during an interactive Q&A session with audience members. The affable Brit, who worked at Porsche for more than 30 years until his retirement last year, gave unique insight into his remarkable career, encouraged by excellent questions from an attentive and passionate audience.

The prize-giving ceremony that followed marked the culmination of a two-stage approach to voting for 2022, to ensure the 9WERKS Awards isn’t merely a popularity contest. At the start of the year, our 750 9WERKS Members cast their nominations for each category, before a nine-strong panel of independent experts made their recommendations, which held equal weighting to the public vote.

Identities of the award winners were kept strictly under wraps until the moment of the big reveal for each category on the night, to ensure fairness and authenticity. The awards were presented by Nezumi Studios, Shorade, Gruppe See and The Race Works, the latter celebrating its involvement by offering a Porsche-friendly 11% off all products via its website with the code ‘9werks11’.

“The inaugural 9WERKS Awards evening was a resounding success, for two reasons,” said Lee Sibley, 9WERKS Founder. “First, we achieved our mission to reward excellence, something 9WERKS is keen to promote as it’s a core value of our own brand. Secondly, it was great to see so many new connections being forged from around the industry. People could put faces to names and have an honest conversation in a relaxed and jovial atmosphere, away from the pressures of showrooms and service departments. This was particularly satisfying to witness.

“Our Awards represent the benchmark in outstanding quality and service. As such they are highly coveted by businesses around the industry as the only credible source of independent recognition, as voted for by enthusiasts and our panel of experts. I’m delighted with how positively the event has been received by my peers and plans are already afoot for a bigger and better Awards for 2023.”
