Porsche launches Performance Parts for Classic models

New line of modern tech for classic cars includes 996 & 959 chassis upgrades, plus 997.1 PCCM+

Porsche Classic has unveiled a raft of exciting new parts as it looks to expand its product range and bring modern technology to its older sports cars.

Porsche says its new line of Performance Parts features newly-developed components with historical references, and is geared towards improving everyday use while also appealing directly to enthusiasts with a keen interest in motorsports and amateur racing.

New Performance Parts in the offing include a smaller-diameter Sports steering wheel for Porsche G-model cars, as well as a new performance chassis for both 996 generations, plus the 959. Pressed by 9WERKS for more information on the 996 performance chassis, a spokeswoman for Porsche Classic said the chassis has been developed with Manthey Racing and will sit above the M030 Sports chassis which was optional on the 996 at the time of its original release.

The same principle has been applied for the 959, in acknowledgement of the advancement in chassis technology since the original über Porsche was released some 35 years ago.

The department has also announced its retrofit Porsche Classic Communication Plus (PCCM+) infotainment system, which has proved so popular among 996 owners since its release in 2020, is set to be available for the 997.1-generation by early 2023. This will fall in line with the 997-generation's official induction into the Porsche Classic scheme, which provides specialist parts, servicing and aftercare for Porsche cars more than a decade old.
