Wednesday Want: 991.2 C4 GTS Cabriolet

Lee Sibley takes to the 9WERKS classifieds in search of the ultimate modern daily-driver…

The 911 is renowned for being the ultimate do-it-all sports car, but within that umbrella, some models do it better than others. For example, a loud and low-slung GT3 RS with a lumpy idle probably won't make for the best daily driver, while conversely a heavy AWD Targa won't deliver the precision required for fast track driving. A GTS though is a modern 911 that'll do both of those with aplomb.

Bridging the gap between Carrera S and GT3, a GTS delivers a little extra theatre while retaining a level of comfort and practicality deemed acceptable for daily use. Better still, a GTS Cabriolet feeds into the all-rounder requirement, offering a serenity (and silhouette) which mimics its Coupe brethren with the roof up, while nourishing you with fresh-air thrills on sunnier days.

Manual is available, but a PDK gearbox will truly give you the best of both driving worlds – Porsche's GTS stable can offer this, too. So, to cover the most bases as a competent all-rounder 911, a GTS Cabriolet with PDK might well do it, and this stunning example from 9WERKS Approved specialists RPM Technik makes for a stunning example of the genre.

The 991.2's wide body, centre-locking wheels and black accents are beautiful fixtures, while its Sports exhaust, which comes as part of the standard Chrono pack, accentuates the stunning flat six soundtrack. And, as a 2018 MY car, it's one of the last to do without GPFs.

It's a great package, and to my mind this example carries the perfect spec including rear axle steering, Bose sound, and front axle lift. Backed by a coveted Porsche Warranty until 2023, if I was looking for a fun and engaging daily driver that could also delight on a summer European tour, this would be it.
