A rare opportunity to acquire a special piece of Porsche history.

1957 Porsche 356 A 1500 GS Carrera coupe by Reutter, original RHD.

One of only 17 right hand examples produced from a total production of just 447 examples worldwide.

Chassis number 58355 was manufactured in June 1957 and is believed to be the first Porsche imported to Thailand.

Featuring a correct Type 547/1 roller bearing 1.5 litre four-cam engine, (4 sequential digits from the original).

Presented in its original colour scheme of silver metallic over red leather. Factory installed Golde sunroof with the V-shape at the front; research suggests this coupe is the last (and only RHD) one built with this style of sunroof before the rectangular ones became the norm.

    IN BRIEF:

Ordered new via Bangkok Swiss Trading for the first owner, he collected the 356 directly from the Stuttgart factory.

Following an exciting life competing in South East Asian motorsport events, where it is rumoured the original engine came to grief, this 356 found its way to the USA in the early 1960’s.

The following 40+ years saw several owners successfully enjoy the car in numerous events and disciplines. There were several engine changes and builds, and a restoration in 2000, plus featured in several specialist publications.

Purchased by a UK based collector in 2006, the 356 was UK registered in 2009 following recommissioning. Used lightly with time spent in storage, it changed hands again in 2019 following further specialist attention.

Condition is appropriate for a 25-year-old restoration and therefore presents the option to either use and enjoy as it is today, or commission a complete body restoration to 21st century standards.

Williams Crawford have the knowledge and experience to offer restoration of this special 356, or any other, under the care and expertise of our specialist, Graham Kidd.

We believe this unique and historic Porsche offers significant potential to the next owner.

A more detailed account of the history, owners, engines, events, restoration, recommissioning etc, plus more photographs and videos for this very important 356 are available on request.
